Before we get to the part you’re probably waiting for (*cough*the survey I made to mark the new year and help me improve my blog*cough*), I thought I’d talk about what happened this December. I have family visiting and swim team to keep up with, but I think I made some steps in the right direction in December! I posted some cool things, read a lot of books, and had a lot of fun IRL. Let’s get into the details!
I only posted two things in December (*cough* bad blogger who procrastinates things while on break*cough*), but what I did post were two awesome guest posts! The first guest post was by Olivia (we actually swapped posts so head over here to read the one I wrote for her blog). She wrote an awesome post on how to stay on top of reading during the holiday season. The second guest post on my blog was by one of my good friends Emily. She wrote a fun post on what books are on her Christmas wish list this year.
I also made a horrible mistake a day or two ago. I deleted a ton of my media, thinking it wouldn’t delete the media from your posts. But if you delete something in media, it deletes it from the post. I have most of the photos I deleted saved in other places, but it’s going to take me a few days to sort through stuff *sigh*. Bear with my blog while I work on this. It’s going to be a lot of work to download photos back on to my wordpress account, find what photos belonged to each post, and search for replacement gifs. I also plan to delete one or two of my older posts, So read up on those if you don’t want to risk missing anything!
I read 22 books in December!! I was pretty happy with this. I didn’t hit my reading goal for 2017, but I’m pretty satisfied with my reading during the second half of 2017. I dealt with a lot of slumps and stress. I read some great books this month, but also a few of my least favorite books ever…… So mixed thoughts, haha.
Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan 5/5 stars: This was a reread for me! I’m never disappointed by a Riordan book.
Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia 5/5: Another reread! 100% my favorite book from 2017.
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness 5/5: This book….. Amazing. Actually made me cry. Plus the illustrations were beautiful.
And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie 5/5: My older sister recommended this one to me ages ago, and I finally got my hands on it. And it was great!! I wasn’t able to guess who did it (though I did guess how). Perfect mystery.
Least Favorite Books
Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller 1/5: This was so disappointing. I had such high hopes, but I really didn’t enjoy it. At all.
Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur 1/5: The drawings were inappropriate and so were the poems. A lot of adult themes. Not for me. I do not recommend it.
The Jane Austen Rules: A Classic Guide to Modern Love by Sinead Murphy 1/5: Not for me. I found it boring and the narrative felt bitter.
In My Life
I’ve had a busy time! Some family arrived last month and are staying till February so I’m pretty busy with that. It’s been fun but a little stressful. We went to Disney Sea a few weeks ago. That was awesome. But I do have to share a room with my sister since family is staying in my room. And that’s been…… fabulous. It’s always fun living with a messy person who goes to bed early….. *cough* sarcasm alert *cough*.
I also had two swim meets in December. One at a long course pool (That.Was.Horrible.) and one that was a home meet. I didn’t do well at the long course but I shaved some time off at the home meet! The photo on the right is from a recent swim meet (the girl is my niece).
My Christmas went well! I thought about doing a haul but just didn’t have enough time to take photos. Would you be interested in seeing something like that in the future?
Finally, survey time. Whether you’ve been reading my blog from the beginning or this is your first time reading my blog, I invite you to take this survey! I appreciate everyone who takes the time to do so! I really wan to take the time to improve my blog this year and would appreciate your opinions.
